Some dogs are graceful. Some are highly intelligent. And then there are the delightfully dopey doggos, the wonderfully goofy little creatures who make you happier and more relaxed without ever trying to. They don't even know what's going on, don't know right from left or up from down but they're here to make us smile and improve our day. There's something special about a dog who seems confused. Scientifically speaking, dogs really do help humans feel better. Looking at cute animals can trigger dopamine release in the brain, which is the little reward chemical associated with pleasure and motivation. Which means scrolling through goofy dog memes is basically self-care. Extremely important medical activity, actually. These dopey doggos are walking reminders that joy does not need to be polished or impressive. Sometimes happiness looks like a golden retriever, or a tiny chihuahua wearing a sweater and looking emotionally overwhelmed by the weather. Sometimes it’s a sleepy bulldog snoring so dramatically you’d think they just completed a marathon instead of walking to the kitchen. I'll never forget the way my dog cheers me up just by greeting me at the door every time I walk inside.
